Mystery Reader

 Today we had a very special mystery reader. We had Mr Benton come in and read to us. We really enjoyed him coming in to read to us and let us try on his fireman's helmet and coat on.

Daffold Day

Today was daffold day. At school each class made paper daffolds and collected money to raise for the cancer society. All of our flowers looked great.

Duffy Books

Today in assembly Maddy recieved a duffy book. She has been a great buddy in reading and making the right choices.

Today we had a surprise mystery reader. Mrs McAvoy from Room 15 came into read to us.

Helping Hand

In assembly today Jayden's name got drawn out of the helping hand bin. He then got to pick a prize from the prize draw. Well done Jayden.

Merit Certificates

Today in assembly Keira received a merit certificate for a fantastic effort in learning all of her alphabet sounds and making great progress in her reading.

Dress up dole banana

Today we dressed up dole bananas for rugby world cup. It was also a fantastic activity for us to use this terms Habit of Mind ' Creating, Imagining, Innovating'. 

Mrs Wishy Washy Tub

This week we have been reading the big book Mrs Wishy Washy tub. Today we got to act it out. Tyrone recorded us acting it out.

Snow

Well the weather all over New Zealand has been pretty wild and cold. Yesterday at school we had lots of hail and even a little snow. It has been very exciting. Crystal wasn't able to make it to school yesterday as she got snowed in. Look at her fabulous picture she drew of her making a snowman.

Habits of mind wall of fame

In assembly on Friday Jayden received the Habits of Mind certificate. He recieved this for “Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations"
Jayden applies his knowledge of letter sounds to help in his writing. He uses his site word knowledge to help him with his reading.

Junior Fitness

This term for fitness the Junior School are doing different rotations so we can get fit for our fun run and the school cross country.

Life Education

Last week we went to the life education caravan. We learnt ways that we can keep healthy. We also got to meet Harold the Giraffe.

Buddy Art

This term our art focus is collage. Today we started our first collage with our buddies from room 15. We had to first draw the intial of our name. Next we had to choose a main colour from a magazine and rip small pieces of paperthen we glued onto our inital. Take a look at the start of our collages. Thanks Mrs Steedman and Room 1 for the idea.

Mrs Wishy Washy

We have been reading the big book "Mrs Wishy Washy'. We got to act out the story while Mrs Derby read the story. We had fun acting the story out.

Leagacey Reading

Basic facts

In class we play a game to learn our basic facts. We get into 2 teams, face each other and Mrs Robertson calls out basic facts we have to be the first to give the correct answer. Today we had a face off with Ryder and Nikora. The winner was Ryder he was our basic facts star today.

Today in Junior assembly some star students from room 12 received certificates for their fantastic learning.

Madison received her for fantastic effort with her story writing. She sounds out unknown words and uses words she knows in her writing.

Blake received his certificate for fantastic effort in his handwriting.

Ryder got his certificate for great progress in reading.

Week 2 Big Question

Ripper Rugby

On Saturday morning I went to watch Nikora, Jake and Jayden play Ripper Rugby. I was really impressed at how well they played. It looked like they were have a lot of fun. Nikora and Jake are in the same team. Jayden is in a team with Coby.

Madison holiday story

Today Madison did her writing onto the class blog. She first drew her picture using tux paint.
